I have not ridden my bike lately. :( We had the plan of ridding a bit after we got back from work. Well, it rained. Almost on purpose for the last month Mother Nature would start raining or down pouring between 3-5 and it would rain 2-3 hours. The roads would be so wet that it was not safe to practice... Now it is not raining as often or as much but now it is hot. Sometimes even at 5 it is 90-95 degrees plus humidity.
While we wait on better weather conditions, we have received the shop manual for the Silverwing. I also ordered a kickstand extender as it was really difficult for me to find the kickstand from under the bike. Now it is really easy to get it down and back in place. On E-bay we found Mr. Dennis in Nevada. He has motorcycle parts for many old bikes.
He was selling another item for a Silverwing and we asked about engine guards (better known as crash bars). He had them in stock and sold the pair to us. Better price than what we had seen on E-bay. Michael put them on my bike today. Oh boy!! he had a hard time installing the one on the right. I helped handing him tools -including a hammer as one bolt did not want to cooperate. Finally I ended up bolting down one of the bolts while he held the nut that did not want to stay in place. All this took over an hour. When we started on the left side, it occurred to me that perhaps it was difficult to install the right side because the guard had been banged on that side before...(the chrome is gone in one section). Well installing the left side took all of 15 minutes. This proved that, the right side guards were crooked a bit. Now my bike is safer, the engine is protected and if the bike were to be on its side, there is enough space so that my leg would not be crush.
I just wanted to give you an update regarding my motorcycle riding. Not much lately. Thank you Michael for installing the parts.
