Yesterday was a fun and productive day. Edith and I went to the Jackson Zoo to shoot footage of the animals and build a stock footage library for future use. Edith is so much fun to go places with, we always have a good time exploring new locations. She is a blast and a good assistant to the "director". LOL
First we visited a camper dealer for information on the "Teardrop" campers. They didn't have one on their lot but we did get some paperwork. We had a good breakfast at Huddle House and went on to the Zoo. I got good footage of the primates and other animals. The Orangutans were interesting but sedate. They hardly moved for the camera then after a while the trainer came by and they perked up a bit. In a way it's sad to see the animals caged and unable to roam and play. They seemed so bored. It was a beautiful fall day and you could tell the animals were wanting to run and play. Most of the predators were pacing in their paddocks. The apes were very interesting. It was amazing to see their facial expressions, they look so human! We spent several hours there shooting the animals and walking around. My leg kept hurting so I would stop often and rest. That made it take forever to see everything there. Before we knew it the zoo was closing. But I got some very good footage.
Coming home we stopped at "Matilda's", the restaurant I took Edith to on her birthday. This time there was some daylight and I had the camera so we got some pictures of the place. Matilda's has a mock "old town" in back and you can view it while you eat. The place has good food and atmosphere. You can walk around the gardens and go visit the old town, take pictures and look at all the old things they have on the property like farm equipment. It's very "country" and even has a singer wailing out country music while you eat. But it's not loud and adds to the ambiance of the place. The weather is beautiful this weekend. Temps have been in the upper 70's and low 80's and you can tell Fall is in the air. We saw a ton of motorcycles and campers on the road and I can't wait to get "TAZ", my bike out on the highway!
When we got home we were beat. We had planned to go camping too but it was late and we were too tired to even think about it. So I'll try to be in the woods next weekend. We are going to try camping in the Matrix, it's about the same size of a Teardrop trailer camper and should give us a good idea of what the camper would be like.
It's Sunday morning as I write this. Going to be another pretty day so I need to get dressed and get some things done. I'll blog more later...
