Growing up, Christmas has always been on December 25th. But since I met Edith now Christmas isn't over till January 6th! Yes, apparently the 12 days of Christmas ends on the 6th. Go figure.So now...Christmas is over.
Can we take the tree down now?
So who came up with this idea that Christmas wasn't over till the 6th anyway? Ok here's the skinny. Apparently the wise men were slow. I mean like really slow. They actually didn't get to Bethlehem till the 6th, a full 12 days past Christmas, hence the Twelve Days of Christmas.
So that is actually when Christmas is over. We had to wait for them. Santa is punctual, the wise men don't deliver their gifts till later. Or so according to my Mexican girlfriend. This has to be a "Mexican" thing because all Mexicans are late. Ever met a punctual Mexican? See, I told you.
So now Edith is asking what they brought her. Eh? I played Santa already! I'm thinking this is just a ploy to get another gift!
The wise men are probably half way back to Jerusalem by now, with some extra frankincense to boot! And Santa is taking it easy on a tropical island in the Caribbean. But here I am stuck with the "January 6th" after Christmas "what did you get me?" tab!
Sheesh!
So, what is a good January 6th gift? Candy? Gadget? ...an I.O.U.?
But wait, do I get a gift too? Cause I can put a list together real quick! Hehehehe :-D
