Wedding (Part Two)

Food! Lots of it! Multiple choices! That's what I want. But, tis not all my decision, so...

What shall we eat? I suggested we have some authentic Mexican and authentic Southern foods. However no one seems to be able to settle on just what is Authentic Southern food?

Also, sit down dinner or finger foods? We will have a large group of people so finger foods probably won't last. But I'm open to suggestions. Most folks in the south think if you invite them you plan to feed them so I was going with the 'sit down' dinner idea. LOL

Other than fried chicken and mashed potatoes or pork chops and okra not much else is exclusively southern. And I have no idea what is considered traditional Mexican.

So, your mission should you decide to accept it is to come up with some dinner ideas for the wedding. All suggestions appreciated. Just comment here. We have almost a year so there is plenty of time to think about it.

I think there are lots of ways to do "Southern" finger foods in a way that will work better with Mexican finger foods. And remember that there was a good deal of leftover food at my wedding even though it was all finger foods.

Southern finger foods: deviled eggs, fried chicken wingettes/strips, fried catfish and hushpuppies, finger sandwiches, cocktail meatballs, sausage balls, fresh fruit, crudite platter, mini quiche...all of these things would be appropriate for a springtime Southern wedding.

Mexican finger foods: tacos (of course!), sopes, gorditas, panuchos, salbutes, chiles rellenos (small ones), fruits and vegetables served with chile and limon, small tamales...there are probably lots more I'm not considering.

My vote is for finger foods, because they say "party" to me. Plus, they make great snacks while you're dancing the night away!
